Minnie is forever changed after a traumatic event that happened thirteen years ago. She’s reserved, intellectual, and certainly not about to do anything out of her usual comfort zone. She’s a librarian, a nice, normal librarian. Her sister calls her ‘terribly boring’. Minnie calls herself ‘safe’. She doesn't like to call herself The Abducted Girl from Uptown Gold.
She's content with her safe life, until a rough and tough character walks into her library, catching her eye. He’s not the sort of man she’d ever associate with. He’s certainly not the sort of man who would even look twice at her, a shy, thoughtful bookworm with deep emotional scars. He’s not a good guy. His prison tattoos say that much. Minnie isn’t going to fantasize about him. She’s certainly not going to get to know him. She’s not going to think about his crooked smirk and the grinning skull tattoo on his neck. She’s not going to get involved with a guy from the wrong side of town.

She’s not going to get involved with a guy from the wrong side of town. Absolutely not.
Minnie shouldn’t want what reminds her of that terrible day she was taken hostage. That would make her absolutely mental.
Wouldn’t it?
Minerva 'Minnie" Fray never thought she'd find her
happy ending- but then she met Gage amongst the dusty stacks of her library.
Covered in prison tattoos and carrying a cocky smirk, the ex-con defies all
Minnie's buttoned-up expectations. With Gage, she can be someone bold, someone
different. It's a relief to be someone other than just The Abducted
Girl or The Bank Hostage in town.
But happiness is similar to thin ice...it can be shattered
to pieces by traumatic revelations.
When a shocking event reveals the hard truth of Gage's past,
Minnie finds herself in a dark spiral, casting their relationship into
jeopardy. Can Minnie accept the knowledge that's been hidden in plain sight? Or
will their love be set to rest in pieces forever?
