Working on a few things...
Admittedly, I have been a bit of a procrastinator this month. I meant to release a little erotic horror short, but things never seem to go as planned. I'm thrilled about "Raw & Vulnerable" finally being release on October 20th, so I suppose there is that :D
Backstory: I injured my hand a few weeks ago. A decent sprain. Horses, you know what I mean? I'd been getting better these past few weeks (the first week severely hindered my writing capabilities) but now I've done myself a disservice and have screwed it up again. I swear, I can see the inflamed tendon YIKES. Back to ice and pain killers, the good old routine that...sometimes seems to work. Is it just me or does regular strength ibuprofen do nothing for inflammation? Anyway, I'm trying to keep up with writing the best I can.
I've been working on a dystopian erotic novella...which may end up being a short novel, we will see. It may fall into erotic horror, it might not. I'm 4000 words in, but it is shaping up nicely. I was worried it was a dud idea, but I put my headphones on and danced around until the idea took on a stronger shape.
You thought I was kidding about music being my muse? I'm not kidding. I literally will put on sound-canceling headphones and wander around a room pondering scenes until something excites me. It's absurd. How does my husband put up with me? It's a very odd habit I've had since childhood, but I've found movement and music gets the creative juices flowing. When in doubt, find songs that make you visualize a scene, a song that makes you feel something in your bones. Nothing better, IMO.
So, that's getting worked on for the most part. That one probably solidly falls in the Dark Romance category, along with dystopian/paranormal. VAMPIRES. Not nice ones either. I don't write nice vampires and I don't plan to. The vampire trope has been getting tired (for oh, just decades) so I figured I would do something a bit more unique and less seen these days. It's been fun. I already wrote some creepy sexiness in it. Creepy. Yet, sexy?
Other notes: HOLY CRAP I had some interesting typos scattered in "Contention" upon release. People, I am so sorry. It went back to re-editing, so if you downloaded it during the initial few weeks, re-download it to your Kindle, it should update with the newer version by this weekend. Up to chapter 21/28 has been scrutinized, because I wanted as much fixed as soon as possible. Seriously, I'm sorry. I personally don't mind typos when I read a story that is otherwise interesting to me, but I know a lot of people (with good reason) do not like seeing a single word out of place. Sorry, loves. I'm very embarrassed, do forgive me.
