Where Have You Been Miss Asha?

Hey, hello. It's me. Many moons have passed and the seasons have rotated by multiple times, but finally I have resurfaced from beneath the waves.

Are you alive?

Indeed! I did a bit of a vanishing act, didn't I? For a very big reason, which did impact much of my creativity. After I finished Contention, I ended up taking on a new job at a new company. This was a large turning point for me, as this company actually had restrictions in their employment contract against hobby writers and hobby software developers. Namely, they had to get permission from the company in order to publish anything🀯

This put a damper on my creative motivation. It was a spectacular job that I knew would benefit my career...and it did. However, I was not happy and after a few years, I eventually moved on to a new company that didn't have such restrictions against hobby creatives. I've been there ever since and have been utterly happy to not have my creative juices chained in such a manner.

What have you been up to, woman?

Being a bit of a creative loon, naturally. I've been writing a lot, working on multitudes of different projects, but I know there is one that many of you are still shaking your fists at me about: Part II of Contention.

Now that I'm actually in reach of completing the final stages of the second (and final) book, I figured I would come out of my hidey hole and give ya'll an update.

Dissension has finally had quite a bit of my attention this year. The outline has been completed, the final chapters / ending are done, and just a few chapters remain to get written and edited. It's almost here, party people. This mad, dark, and quite fictional lawyer drama will soon see its end. I'm thankful for that, because there are so many other things I want to dive into, darker, drearier things...

It is very likely that I will begin posting some of the beginning chapters on ao3 where Contention actually originated for me. I started on ao3 with my original fiction and eventually was bolstered by my readers to take the final step and publish it (thank you to those who supported me, by the way! I cherish you).

Tell us a bit more about Dissension, would you?

Dissension takes place a few months post-Contention. Kara has found herself in a bit of a strange funk, having broken herself away from Nick due to the end events in Contention. Is she happy about being separated from him? No, but her better judgement is hanging on tight.

In this book, Kara is doing her best to settle into being one of Dietrich Bittinger's many lawyers, followed by the nagging sensation of guilt that she's representing a man who isn't...morally in line with her. The peripheral conflict settles on the dark situation that found its way to Kara in the previous book...namely the horrifying torture ring in her city and the people around her that may or may not be involved. Although she isn't on the prosecution any longer, she is still in the crosshairs of a darker foe due to her poking around in things that aren't her business, which may put her very life in danger.

Is there a lot of Dieter in this book? OMG, people, there is too much Dieter. Is Nick happy about that? Of course not, but when is that man happy? I hope you're ready.

Will there be good old fictional-style lawyer drama? Yes. Will there be spicy scenes here and there? Also, yes. Will you probably question Kara and her morals? Sure, why not, we live to judge her.

Anway. Stayed tuned...this thing is finally coming to fruition!

  1. Yes I'm so excited to read Dissension!! I missed Kara so much, and I'm glad to hear that she took some time away from Nick because she really needed to get her life together. And wouldn't it be crazy if Bianca and Dietrich got together? jk, unless...? Also, when I picture Nick and Kara in my head I see the main characters from 365 Days lol. except Kara would be a little younger looking
